What is Astronomy?
Astronomy is the study of everything, because everything is a part of the Universe. There are actually different fields of study within Astronomy. Cosmologists study the Universe as a whole (cosmology). They help us understand the structure of galaxies, black holes, etc. Astrometrists measure distances in space (astrometry). Planetologists study both the planets of our Solar System as well as distant exo-planets (planetology). Radio Astronomers study the universe using radio antenna telescopes. There are even astronomers who never use any kind of telescopes at all. Instead, they look at thousands of numbers collected by others. They try to use math to explain how the Universe works.
